Trust Services

Revocable & Irrevocable Trusts
A Revocable Trust is established while you are living and may be changed throughout your lifetime. It can allow us to manage your assets during your lifetime and following your death. You can set up your Revocable Trust to become Irrevocable after your death. An Irrevocable Trust is very similar but cannot be changed after the agreement has been signed. These types of trusts can take on many forms and be used to accomplish a variety of estate planning goals. Often we are asked to administer long-term trusts for minors or adult children for purposes of creditor protection, estate tax savings or other unique circumstances.

Charitable Remainder Trust
A Charitable Remainder Trust is a split interest trust, benefiting two or more interested parties. This type of Trust provides income to the donor while leaving the remaining trust assets to charitable organizations of their choice.

Foundation & Charitable Trusts
These trusts are built exclusively for charitable purposes. Foundation and Charitable Trusts are created when you transfer ownership of assets to a trust with another person or organization serving as the trustee. The trustee is responsible for managing the assets for the designated charities that are named as beneficiaries of the trust.

Special Needs Trust
A Special Needs Trust is used to help you care for a loved one. We can help the beneficiary receive income from the Trust without reducing their eligibility for the public assistance disability benefits provided by Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, or Medicaid.

Conservatorship
Conservatorships help manage the financial affairs of a person in need, as established by court order. The appointed Conservator manages the assets and helps with bill paying, collection of income, investments or other financial areas.

Estate Planning Services

Wills and Trusts are two estate planning tools used to transfer wealth, maintain charitable goals, minimize wealth transfer taxes, protect assets, provide ongoing management of your affairs and more. We can work with you and your tax and legal professionals to understand your estate planning goals and, implement the plan through title and beneficiary designations. We will explain how we could ultimately carry out your wishes as an Executor and/or a Trustee.

At Iowa State Bank we want to get to know you, your family and your situation so we can guide you and your beneficiaries successfully. We will work directly with you and your advisors to implement a plan that will serve you best and help your family going forward.

Estate & Trust Administration Services
With a sound estate plan in place, you can live with confidence that your loved ones will be taken care of when Iowa State Bank is nominated as Trustee or Executor. We will work with your trusted professionals and family members to collect assets, determine any tax liability and distribute the estate or trust according to your legal documents. Our experienced team of professionals have the resources and knowledge of tax law, business arrangements, property law and investment management that are important to the accurate and timely settling of an estate.
Investment Management

Today's fast-paced markets can be challenging. We work with non-profits, businesses and individual customers to establish a portfolio of investments designed to meet you or your organization's goals and objectives. Our equity philosophy focuses on investing in companies that have long-term growth capabilities and attractive valuations. We center on large-cap individual domestic stocks with ancillary exposure to small-cap, mid-cap and international equity to enhance diversification in client portfolios.

Fixed income investments provide stability and offer predictable returns and higher income flows than what is available through equity investments. Our investment approach emphasizes reduced volatility and consistency of investment return through the purchase of individual bonds and notes.

If you are interested in taking advantage of our investment services without the formality of a trust arrangement, an agency account might be the right fit. We can help you manage your assets based on your guidelines. This type of agreement can be terminated and assets can be added or withdrawn at any time. There are three types of agency accounts:

Custodial Account - We hold all assets, collect income and provide you with accounting on a regular basis. Bills can be paid and cash returned to you as you request. No investment advice or management is provided.

Investment Management - We provide you with all of the Custodial Account services plus active investment management of the assets in the account. You establish the investment guidelines and we build a portfolio to meet your needs.

Retirement Planning

We help individuals by establishing retirement savings vehicles and managing their investments. A Traditional IRA is a way to save for retirement with tax advantages. Contributions you make to a Traditional IRA may be fully or partially deductible, depending on your circumstances. Generally, amounts in your Traditional IRA, including earnings and gains, are not taxed until distribution. A Roth IRA provides individuals with a retirement savings vehicle where qualified distributions are tax-free; the contributions are not deductible in a Roth IRA.

Investing involves risk. There is always the potential of losing money when you invest in securities. Asset allocation, diversification and rebalancing do not ensure a profit or protect against loss in declining markets.

You should consult your legal and/or tax advisors before making any financial decisions.

Investment products are not FDIC insured, are not bank guaranteed and may lose value.
