New deregulations now allow financial institutions to impose additional charges for the convenience of using their automated teller machines (ATMs). That’s why at certain ATMs, you’re being assessed a surcharge fee for making cash withdrawals.
Each financial institution has the option to
assess or waive surcharge fees at ATMs they own. If a surcharge is imposed, the fee will be deducted from your account at the ATM, in addition to the amount of your cash withdrawal.

As an Iowa State Bank customer, your ATM Card and SHAZAMChek Debit Card fees have not changed. Our policy will remain the same. We will not surcharge customers for cash withdrawals made at Iowa State Bank ATMs.

Where can I go to avoid this fee?
Financial Institutions who are members of SHAZAM’s Privileged Status program do not assess a surcharge fee for using their ATMs. In 2001, Iowa State Bank joined the Privileged Status program, a group of independent, community financial institutions, to provide you with a no-surcharge guarantee.
How do I know which ATMs to use?
Simply look for ATMs that display the Privileged Status logo:

If the Privileged Status logo appears on the ATM, you won’t pay a surcharge fee to complete your transaction at that machine.

How do I know if I will be charged?
If the financial institution that owns the ATM chooses to impose a surcharge fee, they are required to post notice on the ATM. Operators must also provide notice on the screen before you are committed to paying the fee. You will be
given the option of continuing or canceling the transaction. A similar message might read: “A $X.XX service fee will be assessed for this transaction, do you wish to continue?” If you choose to continue, you will receive your cash and be assessed the fee. If you do not wish to continue, you can back out of the transaction and not be charged.
